Chocolate Bars Play Up Link Between Cravings, PMS
It’s not as if chocolate needed a boost among women during that time of the month.

But savvy manufacturers have come up with products that play up the link between premenstrual syndrome and a fix of chocolatey goodness.

The Globe and Mail reports Canadian vitamin maker Jamieson is the latest, with its PMS Support Chocolate Bars.

The bars have natural botanicals mixed in with the chocolate – including white willow bark extract, a purported natural pain reliever, and artichoke leaf extract, a natural diuretic.

The 14-gram bars also have chasteberry extract, said to reduce irritability, depression and bloating.

Each dark chocolate bar is 70 calories and the recommended dose is three bars a day for up to five days. A package of 15 bars costs $20.

“This is not convenience store chocolate,” said Jamieson spokesman John Challinor.
