Humpty Dumpty Falls In Brampton

The Kitchener-based company did not say how many jobs would be lost when the plant closes early this year.

Canadian Auto Workers local president Charles Redden said the union believes the closure will affect about 150 of its members, but it has yet to hold detailed discussions with the company.

The company, which operates four factories in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada, said in a release late last year that it has been seeking ways to reduce excess production capacity.

“This restructuring decision is the result of an intensive analysis of the company’s production resources,” the firm said.

“Humpty Dumpty will become a stronger and more competitive company without interruption to our manufacturing and distribution systems,” said interim CEO Bonita Then. o
