May 29, 2008, London, Ont. - Van Houtte Limited of Montréal, Québec and the Heritage Coffee Company of London, Ontario recently announced the acquisition of Van Houtte’s Sierra Roasting operations by Heritage Coffee.

Sierra, located in suburban Vancouver, B.C., is a small- to medium-sized roasting operation, serving primarily the private label OCS and foodservice industries in Western Canada.

It was noted that Heritage’s decision to purchase the operation was based on strategic synergies presented by the Sierra plant, which coincided with its market focus of being Canada’s most favored private label supplier to the OCS industry.

Van Houtte’s decision to sell Sierra was based on its continued focus to build that company’s own brand recognition in foodservice, retail and OCS. Sierra will continue operating under the new company name “Sierra Roasters, division of Heritage Coffee Co Ltd.”
