"The ideal," says Dr. Ian Gemmill, "would be to have [tap] water widely available, have healthy fruit drinks available in machines and no garbage beverages."
Last month, councillors directed city staff to prepare a report
on the policies and timelines required to eliminate bottled water in
city-owned venues that have easy access to tap water. The report, due
in May, was triggered by a motion from councillors Steve Garrison and
