Vending still not a healthy choice?
Nov. 25, 2009 – Here's what James has to say after the new vending machines arrived in her office:

"The same old choices were available with additional unhealthy choices. In addition to high calorie, high sugar sodas, we now have energy drinks. The usual suspects including, chips, cookies and candy bars still exist. And then there are some new items – pre-packaged, ready to heat foods like burritos and sandwiches. At my old job we called that kind of vending the wheel of death."

What are you doing to ensure your vending machines include healthy choices, what new products have you offered? Tell us how you’re promoting healthy choices in vending.

It depends on the brand of an item or the product that the company used ingredients of it.

There are options available but you have to demand them from your distributor or switch distributors! You still get classic vending fare because thats what people still pay for and the profits are high - higher than slightly more expensive healthy options. Some things to demand - dried fruit bars/ fruit leather, oatmeal (if you have hot water available - we sell with bowl and spoon), cup a soup (many variations not neccessarily the brand), crackers (as an alternative to chips), microwave popcorn (Smartpop), and I could go on but the underlying message is until you change your buying habits vendors will not change their stocking habits.
