Should vending machines post cal count?

Dec. 2, 2009 – The requirement, which wouldn’t apply for people who own fewer than 20 vending machines, is part of sections in both bills that would also require chain restaurants to post calorie counts.

Some public-health types have been pushing calorie counts in restaurants for a while now, as a way to fight obesity. I think what's being talked about here is whether or not this should be enforced. It is true most companies do include calorie counts on their packages - but I think Jacob is referring to those who don't and wondering if something should be changed, and if something is changed, whether or not it's going to make that big of an impact on the food choices North American's make.  
 
I also wonder if they are considering the labels to be located on the front of the packaging so that consumers can read the cal counts before they make their selections. 
 
This could also result in newer technology where touch screen displays show items and the cal counts to help consumers with their choice.

That information is listed on all of the items that I have in my machines. So I am wondering what is being talked about here.
