March 11, 2010 – What started out as a creative plan to encourage students to switch
from plastic water bottles to reusable ones has morphed into a bizarre
scheme to sell tap water for 50 cents a shot.
A student-led campaign, at Toronto's Fern Avenue school, to
reduce the use of plastic water bottles sought an easier way to fill
reusable bottles, beyond regular school taps and fountains. Now the
board has come up with the idea of trying out $10,000 vending machines
