Dec. 23, 2014, New York – The world’s Arabica and
Robusta coffee production is converging, with Arabica expected to decline and Robusta to rise, according to a recent U.S. Department of Agriculture report.

In Coffee: World Markets and Trade, the USDA
reports that the 2014/2015 global production of coffee is forecasted at
149.8 million bags, down from the previous year as lower output from
Brazil, Peru, Indonesia, and Vietnam balances gains in Central
America and Colombia.

World Arabica production is also expected to
decline again while Robusta will rise, narrowing Arabica’s dominance
from 62 per cent four years earlier to an estimated 55 per cent, according to
the report.
