Coffee association offers e-learning class

Feb. 5, 2015, Santa Ana, CA – The Specialty Coffee Association of America will run an online course on roasting equipment and operation.

The session, entitled RP110 Introduction to Roasting Equipment and Operation, will take place on Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Pacific Standard Time. The registration fee for members is $140 and for non-members $240.

There are many types of roasting systems that vary by manufacturer (patented or proprietary systems), heat application system, and expected operator performance, according to the association’s website. This class presents different pieces of equipment found in roasting facilities. By surveying roasting equipment throughout history, participants observe the roles roasters have played in the development of the craft of roasting.
