Coca-Cola's stevia-only cola hits New Zealand
New Zealand is the first country to launch Coca-Cola Stevia No Sugar, the first cola by the company that is sweetened solely with stevia.
The leaf of the stevia plant is the only sweetener found in that drink, whereas previous artificially flavoured or all-natural iterations of the famous cola were produced.
“The last 10 years of continuous innovation with stevia means we’re now able to deliver a delicious tasting beverage and we believe it’s the best tasting stevia sweetened cola we’ve ever made,” says Sandhya Pillay, Country Manager of Coca-Cola Oceania in a press release.
This newest version was an attempt to create a low-calorie drink that also appealed to consumers’ concerns about sugar intake and preferences for natural ingredients.
Coca-Cola Stevia No Sugar is available from as of May 7th in all major and independent retailers across New Zealand. It will replace Coca-Cola Life, which was sweetened with a combination of Stevia and cane sugar. If received well, Coca-Cola Stevia No Sugar might make its way to North America.
