Gatorade introduces sugar-free alternative
PepsiCo’s Gatorade products have responded to consumer trends for sugar-free, low-calorie drinks with their newest sports drink, Gatorade Zero, or "G Zero."
Their new sugarless product is available in the same size 591ml bottle, and contains the same amount of electrolytes that the original flavours have. G Zero is sweetened with a combination of sucralose and acesulfame potassium.
Each container of G Zero contains 270mg of sodium, 75mg of potassium and between 1g to 2g carbs, depending on the flavour. As the carb content varies, so does the calorie count, which depending on the flavour can range between 5 to 10 calories per serving.
Gatorade’s new sports drink, G Zero is available in three flavours: Orange, Lemon-Lime and Glacier Cherry.
The company reported a .5 per cent loss in 2017, citing challenges such as competitors using organic ingredients or alternative sweeteners paired with a consumer public that responds to better-for-you drinks that feature less sugar.
