Cadbury Schweppes’ 2005 Profit Surges

LONDON (AP) – Candy and soft-drink maker Cadbury Schweppes PLC reported a 45.7 per cent jump in 2005 net profit, boosted by strong growth throughout its product range.

LONDON (AP) – Candy and soft-drink maker Cadbury Schweppes PLC reported a 45.7 per cent jump in 2005 net profit, boosted by strong growth throughout its product range.

For the year, the company reported net profit of 765 million pounds ($1.6 billion CDN), compared with 525 million pounds ($1.1 billion CDN) in 2004.

Revenue rose seven per cent to 6.5 billion pounds ($13.5 billion CDN).

Cadbury shares rose two per cent in trading on the London Stock Exchange following the announcement.
The company said it gained market share in 16 of its top 20 markets. Cadbury Dairy Milk revenues were up seven per cent, Trident gum grew 21 per cent and Dentyne was up five per cent, the company said. o
