Message from the CAMA president
The impact of COVID-19 is being felt by everyone including our association. This fall our association should be celebrating our 63rd annual trade show – 63 consecutive years of bringing together industry stakeholders from across Canada and the United States. Never in our history has the event been postponed or cancelled and we had been excited to host it at an all new locale. The Whistler event has been postponed until the Fall of 2022. If we can do so safely we plan to host our annual event in southern Ontario in 2021 and will make a decision on this as the calendar turns to 2021. We are sad that we won’t be able to get together personally to exchange greetings, industry best practices and the latest and greatest from all of our valued suppliers. Please be assured that you can always contact us at if you need or want to reach out. The Board of Directors continue to meet monthly and staff continue to update our website and communicate to our members by email broadcasts. We heard from many of you that you were pivoting to include offerings such as face masks, hand sanitizers and cleaning products so we have expanded our search of Biddingo for these requests and will pass them on to you as they become available.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held virtually on October 22nd. Registration details will be emailed to voting members in early October. We encourage all members to participate!

After 3 years as the CAMA President, my term will end after the AGM in October. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with this team of Directors. I am certain that as we move through 2020 and into 2021 that our business climate will continue to improve and new business opportunities will present themselves for each and every one of us. I look forward to seeing everyone again at the events that will surely take place in 2021 and beyond.

In the meantime please stay safe and healthy!

Special Message from the Executive Director

Guinard, pictured at the CAMA Show in 2014, winning the Don Storey Award

We were deeply saddened to hear about the recent sudden passing of Gilbert Guinard. During his career with SEM Inc. Gilbert was liked and respected by his co-workers, clients and suppliers. All people truly enjoyed knowing and working with him. He also believed in giving back to the industry and volunteered with CAMA for many years. He served on the organizing committee for several past trade shows hosted in Montreal and volunteered to translate all communications for CAMA for the past 10 years. He has been one of the most dedicated volunteers in the association’s history. In 2014 Gilbert was awarded the Don Storey Memorial Award which he accepted with pride and passion. Afterwards he added the tagline “Proud Recipient of the Don Storey Memorial Award” to his email signature to show his appreciation for receiving the award. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
