Coca-Cola to launch Google Wallet pilot program
June 17, 2011, United States – Coca-Cola and Google are teaming up to test the new Google Wallet mobile payment system.
The mobile wallet lets customers pay for purchases with a near field communication (NFC) enabled Android phone. The technology will be tested with Coca-Cola's traditional venders and the Coca-Cola Interactive Vender (CCIV) machine. Both types of machines will be equipped with credit card readers that accept traditional credit cards and the Google Wallet.
Pilot tests will run on 200 vending machines in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington. The roll out is scheduled to begin in September.
