Coinco releases upgrades for acceptors, changers
Coin Acceptors Inc. has released software upgrades for its coin acceptors and changers, offering operators choices for upgrading before new loonies and toonies enter circulation next year.

October 6, 2011, St. Louis – Coin Acceptors Inc. has released software
upgrades for its coin acceptors and changers, offering operators choices
for upgrading before new Loonies and Toonies enter circulation next
year.

Software upgrades are available for acceptors produced as far back as 1984. Many of these upgrades can be field installed, saving on expensive service calls and round trip shipping costs. Coinco units can also be upgraded as any authorized service centre.

"Change is inevitable in the unattended payment industry; that's why we have and continue to provide solutions with our customers in mind. Being able to upgrade equipment that is 25 plus years old is something Coinco is very proud of. No other currency manufacturer comes close to having products that have been as future-ready as Coinco," said Chris Stegehius, Canadian general manager for Coinco.

Changers produced as of Aug. 1 already have the new software programmed in. For changers produced before Aug. 1, Coinco offers upgrade options for the following models:

  • Guardian/Guardian XL six tube changer (in production from 2007 to present)
    • Option one: Purchase FP5 field programmer from a local distributor or an authorized Coinco service centre.
    • Option two: Return acceptor to an authorized service centre for update. Applicable fees apply.
  • Global/Global 800/Quantum/Quantum Pro four tube (in production from 1996 to 2010)
    • Option one: Purchase FP4 field programmer from your local distributor or an authorized Coinco service centre.
    • Option two: Return acceptor to an authorized service centre for update. Applicable fees apply.
  • Coin Pro three tube (in production from 1984 to present)
    • All three tube acceptors will need to be returned to an authorized Coinco service centre for upgrade. Applicable fees apply.
