One Click Retail, revealed the market leaders for six of the best selling breakfast cereals in the U.S.
The data research company specializing in e-commerce divided the cereal categories in to hot and cold categories. While there are more cold cereals on the market than variations of oatmeal, the hot cereal division grew faster as the winter season approaches.
Seasonality aside, Amazon has reported an increase of 30 per cent in the last year in the hot cereals division. The research was based on online Amazon sales. Citing the “AMZ effect,” they found that cereals were more likely to be purchased online than in store.
The company cites the two best cereals for vending or pantry services in the warm division are: Quaker Instant Oatmeal Express Cups (Maple Brown Sugar) and Bob’s Red Mill.
For the cold cereals division, the most popular choices for vending and pantry service applications were Kellogg’s Favourites Single Serve Cups, and Kellogg’s Mini Wheats and 12g, ProGranola protein Cereal.
Though the study was conducted and compiled in the U.S. this study has applications within the Canadian market, particularly for pantry services.
