Crane Merchandising Systems (CMS) has acquired Telequip Corporation for approximately $45 US million. New Hampshire-based Telequip is a retail market leader in embedded and free-standing coin dispensing technology. Its coin dispensers have a strong position in the fast-growing automated self-checkout (SCO) and self-service kiosk markets.

With the Telequip acquisition, CMS expands its vending industry leadership into the retail sector.

“We anticipate significant growth opportunities in retail with the addition of Telequip,” said CMS president Brad Ellis.

“There is a lot of synergy between our vending expertise and the self-checkout and self-service kiosk opportunities in supermarkets, convenience stores, and other retailers.”

Ellis noted that Telequip’s coin dispensing technology aligns with CMS’s other technology-led companies – CashCode’s bill validation and NRI’s coin validation.

“With three complementary products and services, Crane Merchandising Systems is the only company that can offer retail self-checkout customers a fully integrated solution.”
