April 14, 2015, Williston, SC – Crane Merchandising Systems, a Crane Co. Company, has released a firmware update for the Navigator telemetry platform designed to help vending operators install cashless capability.

Installation is now truly “plug and play” – no phone calls,
no handhelds and no USB sticks required, the company said in a press release. Upon
power-up the Navigator will configure itself and be immediately ready to accept
credit cards.

Also included in this update are diagnostic tests that help
ensure the solution is working properly, checking for successful
communications, DEX reads and displaying cellular signal strength. Test swipes
can also be performed with any magnetic stripe card without incurring any
charges.

This update also adds support for Crane’s new 3G GSM radio,
adding to the existing choices of Verizon, Sprint and 2G GSM (AT&T,
T-Mobile) radios.

“The new firmware has already been pushed over the air to
every Navigator device online in the field at no charge and is available for
immediate use,” said Brendan Kehoe, vice-president and GM of Crane’s Streamware
business. “These capabilities are available in the first Navigator ever shipped
in 2010 and the ones shipped yesterday – demonstrating the power of the
Navigator platform. This is the key to being truly future-proofed.”

“The Navigator’s diagnostic capabilities will assure
operators that their device is working correctly as soon as installation is
completed without needing to carry a test card,” Kehoe said. “We are focused on
making it as easy as possible for vending operators to take advantage of the
demonstrated benefits of cashless – most importantly same-store sales growth.”

The new installation guide that ships with every device and
includes specifics on the auto-assignment process and the advanced diagnostics
can also be found along with other useful materials on the Crane Merchandising
Systems website. Customers with questions can contact the area sales managers
or the support team at 800-628-8363 during business hours.
