Even small change in pockets can change lives

unitedwayNov. 24, 2008 – Here's the plan: If you have a bet with your buddies and win, pocket
your initial wager and send your winnings to the SUNshine Fund.

I'm sure someone, somewhere is going to give me trouble for this, so I apologize in advance. 

Sunday was the Grey Cup and our red horsemen had a shot at bringing home the title. 
Without doubt, there were loonie and toonie bets all over the city.
Small wagers of pocket change usually reserved for Tim Hortons or the car wash.

Here's the plan: If you had a bet with your buddies and won, pocket
your initial wager and send your winnings to the SUNshine Fund.

If you lost, encourage your friends to share their winnings.
With city streets still lined with enough gravy to trip a snowplow, there are many among us who could use a hand up.
For the past 20 years, the SUNshine Fund has raised money for the Salvation Army to help them do just that.

Nearly $2-million has been raised since its inception and the Sally Ann will stretch each new penny to help those most in need.
You can bet on that.
As always, here is a list of some of the good people who have stepped up early and donated to the fund.
Don Blair parted with $1,565; all around good guy and ad ace Ed Huculak
forked over $200; First Calgary Savings & Credit Union donated
$1,100; Ken Fessler gave $300; Frank Desjarlais gave $1,200.
