WATERBURY – Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. has introduced a new alternative to traditional soft drinks, according to a recent press release. Dubbed Double-Bean Elixirs, these new carbonated coffee sodas offer consumers an environmentally friendly and socially responsible choice of cold beverages.

The Double-Bean Elixirs come in five flavours: original, vanilla, hazelnut, mocha, and almond. They are available in 12 oz. bottles and are first being introduced to select locations in the northeast region of the United States. There is no word yet if the company intends to market the product in Canada.

Patty Vincent, coffee product manager at Green Mountain, described the Double-Bean Elixirs as “delicious and innovative new coffee products. These sodas have a very distinctive coffee taste and are well paired with other flavours to produce wonderfully intriguing beverages.”

Java Pop manufactures the Double-Bean Elixirs for Green Mountain, and already has existing markets in Canada.
“We are pleased to add an organic fair trade line of sodas that broadens the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters brand,” stated Java Pop president, Paul Hendler.

“Fair trade certification of the Double-Bean Elixirs helps ensure that small scale coffee and sugar producers receive a fair price for their crops, which in turn enables them to support their families and their communities. Being organic, as well fair trade certified, this wonderful coffee soda is also good for the natural environments where farmers work and live. Furthermore, consumers can enjoy not only the delicious taste but also the satisfaction of knowing their purchase makes a difference in the world,” said Bob Stiller, president and CEO of Green Mountain.
