Jan. 29, 2014, Shelburne, ON – Ice River Springs purchased Fernbrook Springs for an undisclosed amount.
Fernbrook, which has been in operation since 2005, has a fully integrated manufacturing facility located in Halton Hills, Ont. Ice River Springs now has 10 plants: four in Canada and six in the U.S. The company also has a recycling facility, Blue Mountain Plastics, in Shelburne, Ont.
Ice River Springs manufactures resin in a closed-loop recycling system.
This operation takes in bottles from municipal recycling programs, sorts, purifies and then produces certified food-grade plastic ready for reuse in 100 per cent recycled water bottles. Fernbrook products will be integrated into Ice River Springs’ closed-loop system to reduce their carbon footprint.
"There's enough plastic in the world today, we just need to find ways to reuse it," said Jamie Gott, CEO of Ice River Springs, in a prepared statement. "This acquisition will further our mission to develop products and processes that are better for people and better for the planet."
Jamie and Sandy Gott started Ice River Springs in 1995 with a 5,000 square foot building in Feversham, Ont. Still managed by the founders, the company has become the largest private label bottled water company in Canada.
