ISM 2016 to feature themed pavilions

Cologne, Germany – ISM 2016, a European trade fair for sweets and snacks, will highlight snacking, to-go and breakfast segments in themed pavilions and include a cupping counter.

More than 1,500 exhibitors and 37,000 buyers have registered for the show, which is set for Jan. 31 to Feb. 3, 2016, organizers said in a news release

More than 1,500 exhibitors from around 70 countries are expected at the fair, including numerous market leaders. The range of exhibits encompasses chocolate and chocolate products, confectionery, biscuits and snacks.

The show will highlight snacking, to-go and breakfast segments. These include ready-to-eat savoury snacks, fruit and vegetable snacks, breakfast products as well as coffee and tea. In addition to expanding the coffee bar into the “Cupping Counter,” newly created “Theme Pavilions” will bundle exhibitors who offer vegetable and fruit snacks, dried meat, that is, jerky beef, and breakfast items.

ISM newcomers will be presented in the “Newcomers Area.” A few places are currently still available, the release said.

The special event “Sweet Trends – Powered by Innova Market Insights,” which includes a lecture forum from the students of the Cologne International School of Design, are also being staged again at ISM 2016.

The international prize, the ISM Award, will once again be conferred upon an outstanding personality from the confectionery industry. After Herman Goelitz Rowland Sr. (Jelly Belly Candy Company) and Felix Richterich (Ricola AG), the industry will find out who the third prize winner is on the evening of the first exhibition day during a festive dinner.

The show occupies Halls 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11 of the exhibition grounds in Cologne, which corresponds to a gross exhibition surface area of 110,000 square metres.

The greatest number of foreign exhibitors come from Italy, Belgium, Spain and France. With further key participations from the Netherlands, Great Britain, Turkey, China, Poland and the United States. Companies from Ecuador, Japan, Korea and the United Arab Emirates also are represented.
