Paul O’Brien joins GMCR
Oct. 16, 2013, Waterbury, VT – Paul O’Brien joined the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR) team as president of Asia Pacific on Oct. 14.
He will report to president and CEO Brian Kelley. The appointment coincides with the announcement of the retirement of Gerard Geoffrion, current president of International Business Development, on March 31, 2014.
O'Brien most recently worked for the Sara Lee Corporation, where he served as managing director of the Australia-based Kitchens of Sara Lee since November 2010.
In his newly created position, he will be responsible for building and managing the company's business in Asia Pacific.
He has held roles in strategy, sales, and marketing responsibilities across various Asia Pacific geographies with companies including Accenture, Defiance Hong Kong, and the Kellogg Company where he was director of strategy and business development of Asia Pacific.
O’Brien holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Queensland, and a Masters of Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from Bond University. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Geoffrion was named president of international business development for GMCR in October 2012. He previously served as president of GMCR's Canadian business unit.
He joined the company in December 2010 through the acquisition of Van Houtte and was previously Van Houtte's president and CEO. Geoffrion joined Van Houtte in 1995, and held a number of positions during his tenure including executive vice-president and CFO, and vice-president of corporate development.
Post-retirement, Geoffrion will continue as executive advisor of strategic initiatives from Apr.1 to Dec. 31, 2014.
