Many operators are rediscovering the advantages of photo booths. In their constant search for "new" equipment that earns good revenue, photo booths have now resurfaced.
The rapid growth in photo booth popularity has many intriguing evolutionary factors, but can easily be boiled down to the following concepts:
The peculiarity of human nature:
In short, people enjoy acting silly. There is something invigorating about this However, there must be a shield of anonymity attached to their actions or otherwise they may appear to be immature or daft. Hence, the photo booth curtain, behind which people can smile, cajole, cuddle and do their thing without fear of reprisal.
Old is new:
The premise here is easy. If it was once good, it will always be good. Customers might say – "my mom has some old pictures of herself in a photo booth so I want one, too", or "I like the old-fashioned look of black and white photos." Simply put, nostalgia sells. Today it is called retro.
Wow! It's not digital:
The fact of the matter is, today's photo booths are digital and very cutting edge in both their manufacturing and capability, but the end result is, well, not cutting edge at all. It's a strip of pictures, just like from the original photo booths manufactured just after World War I. There's something intriguing about this to the many photo booth users of today because digital cameras cannot produce a hard copy of their photo booth experience. In fact, some of the younger users of photo booths have never held a real photograph in their hands, only seeing digital pictures on screens.
I want one, too:
Exposure is everything. As more photo booths are seen at weddings, bar mitzvahs, corporate events, trade shows, 50th birthday parties, bridal fairs, etc., the more the demand perks up. It's the old snowball effect. The demand for photo booths – both on a permanent location, like in a club, recreational area or retail setting, or rented for a special event, has hardly been scratched. This is a big country, with lots of places for photo booth fun. Future growth is going to be phenomenal.
