Nov. 29, 2012, Burnaby, B.C. – Brad Weiss of Canadian Amusement Game Supplies in Burnaby, B.C., passed away Nov. 26 after a courageous fight against liver cancer.
Brad entered the amusement industry approximately 50 years ago with his brother Barry in Thunder Bay, Ont., after the passing of their father. Brad and Barry ran the family business for their mother until she was able to sell it. Brad caught the coin bug. After moving to Vancouver with his wife, he found his way into the employ of Dale Johnson of Dale Distributing in Richmond, B.C., where he became manager and sales manager. After quite a few years at Dale Distributing, Brad opened his own parts company. He then joined forces with Pacific Vending in their large building in Burnaby, sharing the same building for years. In time, Brad went out on his own around the early years of conversion kits. He started Canadian Amusement Game Supplies, including kits and parts, and eventually became a full-line distributor. His staff grew and he shared his knowledge with all.
Brad was a husband to Donna and father to Lori and Trevor. "He mentored a lot of people in our industry, including me," says friend Peter Jones. "He was always positive to the end."
