Ben & Jerry’s launch low-fat “Moophoria”
In response to the popularity of low-fat, reduced calorie ice creams such as Halo Top in the U.S., American ice cream brand Ben & Jerry’s announced that they will provide a lower-calorie alternative to their current indulgent flavours.
Moophoria, will be available in 0.57 litre (1 pint) containers, and made without sugar substitutes or sugar alcohols, and organic milk and cream. Flavours will include: Chocolate Milk and Cookies, Caramel Cookie Fix and PB Dough. The calorie count ranges between 140-160 calories per serving.
However, as far as comparing the calorie count to other lower fat, or reduced calorie ice cream, this isn’t the lightest option the market. Each Moophoria container is listed to have 4 servings, in other words, each package contains between 140 to 160 calories, depending on the flavour.
Ben & Jerry’s light ice cream will be launched in 2018 in the United States, but has no launch date scheduled in Canada as yet.
