Tim Hortons releases Day of Inclusion Donut
Donut proceeds support Special Olympics Canada
On Saturday, July 20, Tim Hortons and Special Olympics Canada are teaming up to release a limited edition donut to support and celebrate Global Day of Inclusion.
Global Day of Inclusion began in 2018 and together Tim Hortons and Special Olympics Canada are raising awareness and funds to empower 47,500 Canadians with intellectual disabilities to reach their full potential through Special Olympics programs.
On July 20, guests can purchase a Special Olympics Donut at participating Tim Hortons restaurants with all proceeds going towards Special Olympics programming across Canada.
This year's donut was created by 26-year-old Special Olympics athlete Tori Ranson, whose creation was chosen from more than 400 submissions. Tori’s donut features a cruller sliced in half and filled with whipped topping and is decorated with vanilla fondant and red sprinkles. "Special Olympics has been a huge part of my life for over 12 years. I love the friendships I have found over the years through Special Olympics. I have a lot of great buddies. I can't wait to see people enjoying my donut – I used red sprinkles for Canada,” stated Ranson in a press release.
Tim Hortons has been a proud national partner of Special Olympics Canada since 2016. The company is the Lead Corporate Sponsor of Special Olympics Canada's youth programs Active Start, for 2- to 6-year-olds, and FUNdamentals, for 7- to 12-year-olds.
"Community is at the heart of who we are as a brand at Tim Hortons. We're proud of the role our restaurant owners play in communities and are thrilled to be working with an organization that shares our core value of inclusion. This year is our second year working with Special Olympics Canada to support Global Day of Inclusion and we hope that together we can inspire our guests to recognize the power of inclusion through sport and continue to foster communities where everyone is welcome,” added Alex Macedo, president of Tim Hortons.
