Venditalia: Snackification and organic food
By CANADIAN VENDING
The international automatic distribution showcase, Venditialia, will discuss balancing the trend towards healthier food choices, while meeting the need for snackified, hand-held convenience.
This June, vendors from around the world will explore new options in better-for-you snacking and healthy vending choices at the pavilions of Fiera Milano, at the Venditalia trade show.
According to Statista, the share of organic food and beverage sales made up 67 per cent of all organic sales in the United States in 2014, and are predicted to account for 68 per cent by the end of 2018.
Venditalia cited Nomisma’s study on organic product sales (domestic and export) which exceeded 5 billion Euro (an increase 9 per cent compared to 2016 and over 218 per cent compared to 2008.)
Vendors have to balance healthy eating with snackification, where every meal is adapted into a snack-like form to adapt to faster consumption. From puffed rice snacks to sweets without sugars, consumption habits are changing internationally and the fragmentation of meals is not only affecting their frequency but also their ingredients.
Among some of the topics discussed will be the offerings like couscous appearing in the vending machines, to meet demands of consumers who may want a lunch or supper on-the-go. The growth of so-called “free from” products continues, such as gluten, lactose or potential allergens; some may consider a vending machine dedicated to meeting dietary needs. By now, many food products have their particular dietary needs included in vending machines.
Venditialia is organized by Venditalia Servizi and promoted by Confida – Italian Association of Automatic Distribution, and will take place between the 6th to the 9th of June 2018.
